University of Wolverhampton see highest number of students attending counselling since 2013

University of Wolverhampton have seen a peak in face-to-face, drop-ins and online counselling attendance since 2013.

In 2017, the number of students seeking counselling was at 472, the highest number that the university has seen throughout the past 5 years. The university’s current number of students attending counselling is at 315, as of April 2018 (before June exams and deadlines).

Statistics show that although the number of students attending counselling last year was at 472, the average waiting time for their first appointment is also peaking.

The number of weeks that students must wait for an appointment is currently at 6-8 weeks which is an increase from just 2 weeks in 2016. Although the waiting time for appointments has increased, the number of staff dedicated to Mental Health Lead Practices has remained at just 5.
